Poole Harbours Islands
There is a total of 8 islands within Poole Harbour. The 5 largest are listed below:
Brownsea Island - This is the largest of the Islands, Owned by the National Trust it is open to the public from mid-March to early November. For more details on Brownsea Island follow this link .
Furzey Island - This is the home to a well disguised oil well and gathering station for Wytch Farm (Britain's largest onshore oil development). The Island is also home to a thriving community of Red Squirrels.
Long Island - A privately owned Island, which is currently for sale, with an asking price in the region of £1M.
Round Island - A privately owned Island which has a mix of beautiful grassy paddocks and woodland areas. There is a small sandy beach with shallow waters. Holiday cottages are available on the Island, see www.roundisland.co.uk for more information.
Green Island - A privately owned Isalnd which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a SIte of Special Scientific Interest and Special Protection Area that is covered in extensive woodland and heathland.
