Sunday 25 July 2010 - Escape The Midday Sun With Free Poole Pottery Workshops
Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole.
The Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole, will launch its action-packed programme of Escape the Midday Sun free family events this weekend, Sunday July 25, kicking off with a fantastic series of Poole Pottery workshops.
A whole host of activities taking place throughout the shopping centre for the duration of the school summer holidays will be the perfect way to keep all the family entertained while avoiding the effects of the sun when it is at its hottest.
Starting this Sunday, children of all ages can paint bisques in the shape of a sunflower, a butterfly, a dolphin, a football, a star or even some flip flops. After creating their colourful masterpiece on the Main Mall, outside Animal, children will leave the bisques to be fired at the famous Poole Pottery ready for later collection.
The Dolphin Shopping Centre's special partnership with Poole Pottery means the unique free workshops will continue every Sunday throughout August, taking place from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
Even Poole Pottery's Master Potter, Alan White will be making a special appearance in the Dolphin Shopping Centre on Sunday, August 15, to entertain shoppers with his demonstrations of throwing techniques when creating masterpieces such as tea pots.
Stephanie Lacey, Dolphin Shopping Centre Manager, commented: “Poole Pottery has an iconic association with our town so what better way of introducing the Dolphin Shopping Centre's exciting programme of free Escape the Midday Sun events than with the Poole Pottery workshops? I'm really looking forward to seeing lots of families creating their bisques on the Mall. In fact, I can't wait to have a go myself.”
