Shoppers of all ages are in for a special summer treat on Monday, August 2, when Noddy will be visiting the Dolphin Shopping Centre for the first time.

The iconic children's TV character, who celebrated his 60th birthday last year, will be leaving Toytown especially to headline the Dolphin Shopping Centre's Escape the Midday Sun free family events taking place throughout the school summer holiday.

Entertaining children for generations, Noddy is still as popular today as the original character created by Enid Blyton. Filled with enthusiasm, curiosity and unstoppable drive, his strong sense of fair play and good heart will certainly make him a welcome visitor to the Dolphin Shopping Centre.

Fans of all ages can take the chance to meet and have their picture taken with Noddy during his appearances throughout the shopping centre at 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm, so don't forget to bring your camera.

Stephanie Lacey, Dolphin Shopping Centre Manager, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Noddy for the first time as part of the Dolphin Shopping Centre's programme of Escape the Midday Sun events this summer. Noddy has been a firm family favourite across many generations so I am sure children, parents and grandparents alike will all enjoy his visit.”

While having fun with Noddy, fans should also check out the official Noddy merchandise on offer throughout Dolphin Shopping Centre stores, including a great selection of books at the Early Learning Centre, the latest Noddy DVDs at HMV and puzzles from Argos.

The centre's Escape the Midday Sun programme of free family events promises an action-packed weekend prior to Noddy's visit.

Silly Scott, billed as the south's leading entertainer, will be helping keep the children amused with his family magic show, balloon modelling and face painting on Friday, July 30, and every Friday throughout August. The Poole Pottery workshops will also continue on Sunday, August 1, where children can paint their own colourful bisques on the Main Mall, outside Animal, to be fired at Poole Pottery for later collection.
