Cranborne Manor & Garden Centre
Cranborne Manor, originally built in 1207 as a Hunting Lodge, is one of those English Country Houses, which nestled within the local village, is a delight to visit. As a private residence, the grounds only are open to the public on Wednesdays, between the months of march and September, but a visit is recommended.
The actual Manor is a beautiful building with a character all it's own. The history of the House and Gardens, is a clear a record of English History and development as you will find anywhere. As the years have passed, additions, renovations and rebuilds have resulted in an unique building, with many facets of English building styles being represented, both in the House and Gardens.
Surrounded by the rolling Dorset countryside, The Manor is set in the heart of well tended gardens, reflecting the diverse nature of traditional English gardens. From the traditional walled vegetable garden, through the croquet lawn to the Sundial Garden, all styles of Garden are represented.
The Garden Centre at Cranborne Manor, is an independent country garden centre, which specialises in old fashioned roses, clematis, herbaceous plants and shrubs. Visit their website, address below, for further information on the plants they supply. Situated in the Garden Centre is a large gift shop and nearby is a tea room.
The Manor House Grounds are open Wednesdays only, from March to September. The actual House, is a private residence and is not open to the Public. It is always best to confirm the opening times on their own website, address as above, before your intended visit date.
The Garden Centre is open : Monday - Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sundays & Bank Holidays 10am - 5pm.
